These Triple Decker Brownies have it all–a soft and chewy butterscotch cookie layer, double-stuffed Oreos, fudgy brownies, and a medley of Reese’s candies!
One of my favorite things about baking is that there literally are no rules. You’re free to dream up and create whatever concoction/experiment/monstrosity/delicious mistake you so desire. Sure, there are certain steps and measurements you need to follow if you want your recipe to actually be edible. However, when it comes to combining different flavors or various confections, the sky is the limit. Which brings us to this week’s recipe…
These Triple Decker Brownies not only combine two, but THREE of my favorite things in life–soft and chewy butterscotch cookies, Double-Stuffed Oreos, and rich chocolatey brownies.
Oh! And of course we can’t forget the variety of Reese’s candies–white chocolate Reese’s cups, Reese’s Pieces, and Reese’s peanut butter chips.
So not only do we have triple the layers, but triple the Reese’s all in this ONE heavenly treat! Because like I mentioned earlier, there are NO rules. So if you feel like loading up all your favorites into one seductively scrumptious sweet, you do you, boo!
Now, I’m sure most of you have already come across this treat in the Pinterestphere, going by the name of “Slutty Brownie.” While I can fully understand why these brownies are considered “slutty” seeing as the recipe DOES “get around”, I decided to call these guys Triple Decker Brownies instead. I originally wanted to call them “Died and Gone to Heaven Brownies” (literally my feeling after the first bite), but that title seemed a bit long. Furthermore, I’m sure these photos do a good enough job of conveying that message anyway…
Unlike the original “slutty” recipe, these brownies probably aren’t as easy (“slutty”) to make. That’s because I don’t use pre-made cookie dough or pre-made brownie mixes. Instead, I used my own homemade cookie and brownie recipes and layered them. Not that there’s anything wrong with using pre-made mixes (my cabinet is FULL of them), but I wanted to have complete control over each layer. More specifically, the cookie layer.
Now this cookie layer isn’t your average chocolate chip cookie. That’s because it’s infused with the richness of butterscotch and absolutely brimming with white chocolate chips. To add that yummy butterscotch flavor to the cookie dough, I used instant butterscotch pudding mix. I only needed half of a small box for this recipe, so if you plan on doubling these brownies (which I HIGHLY recommend), you’ll use the entire box.
As you can see, I used Double-Stuffed Oreos in these brownies. I mean, with how over-the-top these brownies are, you might as well go ALLLLLL the way. The regular Oreos work too, however, I prefer the look of the Double-Stuffed more since they stand out better between the layers.
As far as the brownies go, it’s pretty much your standard recipe, but with stellar flavor and the most ooey gooey, unbelievably fudgy texture. Since these brownies are pretty thick and hefty, I recommend waiting at least 2 hours before slicing into them. They need a little time to finish baking from the residual heat and they’ll also firm up, so the cuts will be “cleaner” when you slice into them. However, if you prefer a more ooey gooey, lusciously messy experience, pop one piece into the microwave for about 8-10 seconds, and you’ll end up with this…
These Triple Decker Brownies wouldn’t be nearly as enticing, nor as beautiful if they weren’t loaded up with the delectable medley of Reese’s candies. Feel free to use whatever candies/candy bars you want–M&Ms (any kind), Snickers, Butterfinger, butterscotch chips, Whoppers, etc.
While I’ve had my fair share of brownies in my lifetime, never have I experienced such euphoria after biting into one of these Triple Decker bombs. The butterscotch cookie layer is so soft, it’s almost fudgy, and the brownie layer is just past the point of being fully baked yet it still has that wonderful brownie batter texture. Not to mention, the Oreos almost melt into the brownies as they bake, and the addition of Reese’s candies just adds to the extravagance of it all.

- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 5 Tablespoons instant butterscotch pudding mix (dry)
- ½ cup white chocolate chips
- 16 Oreos (I used Double-Stuffed)
Brownie Layer:
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 5 Tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 4 regular Reese's Cups (I used white chocolate Reese's)
- ¼ cup Reese's Pieces
- ¼ cup peanut butter chips
Instructions
Make the Cookie Layer:
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF, and line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined; set aside.
- In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream the butter until smooth. Add both sugars and mix on high for 3 minutes until light and fluffy. Add the egg, followed by the vanilla. Then stir in the pudding mix.
- With mixer set on low speed, slowly add the flour mixture into the wet mixture until everything has been incorporated. Stir in the white chocolate chips until just combined.
- Press the cookie dough evenly into the prepared pan. Top with a single layer of Oreos.
Make the Brownie Layer:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and cocoa powder together and stir with a wooden spoon until smooth and glossy. Remove from the heat, and stir in the sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla, stirring until fully incorporated. Stir in the flour and salt.
- Pour batter on top of the Oreos, spreading out evenly. Sprinkle the Reese's cups, Reese's Pieces, and peanut butter chips on top. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for at least 2 hours. Cut into squares and enjoy!
