Now that we’re all SO over this New Year’s Resolution “I’m going to eat healthier” BS (10 days is long enough, right?), I think it’s safe to introduce our good friend, chocolate, back into our daily diets. Don’t you think?

Personally, I believe going an entire day without any drop or crumb of chocolate is a serious travesty.  Who in their right mind would ever allow such a thing??? So to all you crazies who vowed to remove or even “take it easy” on the chocolate this year, I’m about to make things just a tad bit difficult on you.

I’m such an enabler…

I’m basically that little devil on your left shoulder, constantly urging you to do the wrong thing. But how can something so wrong, be SO right at the same time?

I think this is where the term “sinful” originated.

Just like my legendary Ultimate Rice Krispies Treats and my equally tempting Ultimate Pumpkin Rice Krispies Treats, these chocolatey crispy treats consist of layer, upon layer, upon layer of mouthwateringly gooey madness.

To start things off right, we have a lusciously rich, fudgy, chocolatey base of brownies STUFFED with diced Milky Ways. Because brownies can ALWAYS use more fudgy gooeyness.

Next up is our first layer of Cocoa Puff love, which is a spin-off of the traditional rice krispies treat. Instead of using rice krispies cereal, I used the crisp, crunchy, and always chocolatey Cocoa Puffs cereal. And to make this layer ULTRA brownie-licious, I used these choco-pillowy-puffs of fluffy goodness.

I found these at Target in the clearance section. Woo woo! My only regret is that I only took one bag. These would’ve been great for S’mores since they’re flat and square. If you can’t find them at your Target, Wal-Mart has them as well! And since I didn’t think this one bag of marshmallows would be enough to satisfy that ooey gooeyness I adore in marshmallow treats, I went ahead and added an entire container of marshmallow creme. Marshmallowy goodness X2!

Our third layer of chocolate yummy-yumminess incorporates the beloved Nutella into the mix. Because if you’re going to make some of the most legendary brownies of our time (I’m being humble here), Nutella HAS to be involved in some shape or form. Since we already had a layer of fudgy (the brownies) and a layer of gooey (the Cocoa Puff krispies treats), the only texture missing was a layer of crispy. It starts with a luxurious melting of semi-sweet chocolate and Nutella. Keep in mind, this recipe contains 1 1/2 cups of Nutella, so you will need more than just one regular-sized container. Hey, when I said Nutella was involved, I meant it.

To that smooth, unbelievably heavenly mixture, I added a few tablespoons of the brownie mix (dry) just so that we could incorporate some of the wonderful brownie flavor into EVERY layer of this sinfully delicious diabetic coma of a brownie.

Then came the Cocoa Puffs…believe it or not, after I folded in the Cocoa Puffs, I didn’t think this mixture was sinful enough. So I made the executive decision to add a cup of Heath toffee bits into the mix. It was now worthy of joining the other layers.

I almost unhinged my jaw trying to fit my mouth around one of these massive brownies.  Maybe I should’ve cut them smaller…

  • 1 box brownie mix + ingredients on back of box (or any homemade recipe)

For the Cocoa Krispies

  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 (8 ounce) package Chocolate Brownie marshmallows*
  • 6 cups Cocoa Puffs cereal
  • 1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow creme

For the Chocolate Nutella Layer

  • 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cup Nutella
  • 3 Tablespoons brownie mix (reserved from mix)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper and spray with nonstick cooking spray.

Dump mixture into pan and spread into an even layer with a rubber spatula.

  • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow all layers to set up. Slice into squares, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

*You can find the Brownie marshmallows at Target or Walmart, but regular marshmallows can also be substituted.

For the reserved brownie mix for the top layer, won’t this be raw or am I missing a step? Thanks!

Hi Angela, it’s just the brownie powder. You need to reserve some of the mix alone (hasn’t been combined with the eggs, or other ingredients). Hope that makes more sense 🙂
