Frozen Turtle Hot Chocolate | A baJillian Recipes (title)

Summer is quickly coming to a close, but it feels as though the heat is planning on sticking around for a bit longer. It’s these never-ending 90-degree days that make me so very grateful that I have this Turtle Frozen Hot Chocolate to cool off with…

While hot chocolate is most often enjoyed during the chilly winter months, it’s just as enjoyable (if not more!) during the summer months as well. That is, when you freezify it. (Yeah, I just made up that word.) So how exactly do you “freezify” hot chocolate? It’s simple, thanks to Swiss Miss® Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix! Ever since I can remember, Swiss Miss® has always been a staple in my house. It’s made with real milk, making it perfectly rich and creamy.

One of my favorite chocolate candies has always been those chocolate turtle clusters. They really are the perfect candy when you think about it. They’ve got everything–the gooey caramel, the crunchy pecans, and the rich and silky chocolate. That’s why I knew they’d be the perfect inspiration for this frosty beverage.

What makes this Turtle Frozen Hot Chocolate a snap to put together is that it requires minimal ingredients and very few steps. To make things even easier, you can find everything you need for this recipe at Walmart. Yay!

For starters, you’ll want to prepare the glasses by dipping the rim in either chocolate ganache or chocolate frosting. I used leftover homemade ganache from a previous recipe, but you could even just use canned chocolate frosting and warm it up in the microwave until it’s thinned out to dippable consistency. Once you’ve got a nice rim of chocolate, dip/pack on some chopped toasted pecans. Store prepared glasses in the freezer so that they’re nice and frosty when it comes time to fill them.

How-To 2

To make the Turtle Frozen Hot Chocolate, combine some milk, Swiss Miss® Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix, and caramel sauce in a blender, mixing until smooth. Add the ice, and continue blending until thick and slushy.

How-To

Because I’m (YAS) queen of all things decadent, I just had to add some extra drizzles of caramel along the inside of the glass and the rim. A drizzle of chocolate syrup also doesn’t hurt…

To finish things off, I always like to top my frozen hot chocolate off with a pristine swirl of Reddi-wip®. Sprinkle on a few extra toasted pecans, and you have a looker!

Oh! And if you really want to be extra bougie, add a skewer of chocolate turtle clusters!

Aside from how easy this drink is to make, I love the richness of the caramel combined with the creamy sweetness of the milk chocolatey Swiss Miss® Hot Cocoa Mix. The extra chocolate, caramel, and toasted pecans along the rim really take this frozen hot chocolate over the top. And the heavenly crown of Reddi-wip® is the perfect finisher to top off this masterpiece.
