Crisp squares of Cinnamon Toast Crunch coated in a mixture of peanut butter and white chocolate, then shaken in ample amounts of powdered sugar!
In my book, there’s absolutely no such thing as too much puppy chow, ESPECIALLY since there are so many possibilities as far as variations go!
This time I decided to kick things up a notch! Instead of your traditional rice or corn chex base, I went with one of my favorite childhood cereals….Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
I know it’s not the healthiest of cereals out there…heck, it’s probably got the same sugar content as a bag of Skittles, but for that reason it can also make for a great dessert ingredient! Which brings me to what you’re all here for…
Peanut butter…Snickerdoodle…Puppy Chow!
More like Puppy WOW!
Who knew that peanut butter and cinnamon were soulmates destined to create the most perfect breed of puppy…chow. I know, I’m starting to break into my ridiculous, cheesy self like I always do, but it is a pretty big deal.
For me, that is.
I mean, we’re all used to seeing combinations of peanut butter and chocolate, peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter and banana, and even peanut butter and celery…
But peanut butter and cinnamon? Genius combination!
This puppy chow is like dunking a warm snickerdoodle cookie in a jar of creamy peanut butter. Yes, I know that sounds like a diabetic death in one bite, but…YUMMM!
For those of you who think this might be overly sweet due to the use of Cinnamon Toast Crunch instead of plain chex, I promise you it is not. (Although I do enjoy frosting shots from time to time…that’s not the point!)
I tasted more cinnamon rather than sweetness from the cereal, which is exactly what I was looking for. Being that peanut butter tends to overshadow anything you add it to, I was pleasantly pleased by the ratio of peanut butter to cinnamony taste. Hence, the reason why you NEED to use Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
After all, this IS Peanut Butter SNICKERDOODLE Puppy Chow.
For extra insurance, I added cinnamon to both the peanut butter and white chocolate mixture as well as the powdered sugar.
And to add a little diversity (Yes, cereals can be considered diverse too!), I added in a couple cups of Cheerios. Plain ones, that is. Because the only REAL way to eat them is coated in white chocolate, peanut butter, and sugar, right?
So there ya have it! Just SIX ingredients to create this wonderful masterpiece of cinnamon-peanuty-buttery-powdered-sugary-toast-crunchy-goodness!
