This white chocolatey Wonder Woman Caramel Crunch Bark is filled with marshmallowy Cap’n Crunch krispies and golden pockets of ooey gooey caramel!
With the release of “Wonder Woman” in theaters, I decided to create my own sweet treat around the very much-anticipated film. Seeing as there’s literally a baJillian Spiderman, Superman, Batman, and You-Name-It Man movies out there, Wonder Woman definitely deserves to be honored.
So what better way to celebrate this wonderous occasion than with this Wonder Woman Caramel Crunch Bark?
As the Spice Girls would say, “GIRL POWA!!!” If this was 1998…
God I feel old.
Similar to my Rice Krispeeps Bark, this wonder-filled white chocolate bark is stuffed with wonderfully ooey gooey marshmallowy crispy treats. HOWEVER, this treat is different.
TOTALLY different.
Instead of using Rice Krispy cereal, I went with Captain Crunch cereal–excuse me–Cap’n Crunch cereal. Not only did the bright goldish yellow color of the crispy squares go with the Wonder Woman theme, but the cereal name seemed appropriate seeing as Captain Planet was my favorite superhero as a 90’s kid. “Captain Planet, he’s our hero, gonna take pollution DOWN TO ZEROOO!” Ok, I’ll stop…
One of the tips to making really good rice krispies treats is to fold in an extra cup or two of mini marshmallows at the very end. Riiiiight before dumping the marshmallowy cereal mixture into the pan. This allows some of the marshmallows to keep most of their shape, which creates a softer, gooier treat!
Aside from the melty, ooey gooey marshmallows, I also added an entire container of marshmallow fluff to these bad boys. Because I’m alllllll about those sweet sugary strands of marshmallow hanging from my chinny chin chin.
But wait, there’s more…
MUCH MORE.
Before covering that marshmallowy goodness with rich white chocolate, I drizzled on some caramel. Not too much, but just enough for you to bite into a piece and discover little pockets of soft golden gooeyness. The caramel is really what takes this treat over the top.
To decorate, I used some red and blue crispy M&Ms (any kind will do) along with some SPRINKLES. Just look at how these little gold crowns and stars amp up the cuteness factor!
From the patriotic colors to the little stars, this chocolate bark would also make the perfect Fourth of July treat. So do yourself and EVERYONE at your July 4th gathering a favor and make this!
Just do it.
NOW.
Wonder Woman Caramel Crunch Bark
Ingredients
- 6 cups Cap'n Crunch cereal
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 16 ounces mini marshmallows (8 cups), divided
- 1 (7 oz) container marshmallow creme
- 6 ounces caramels unwrapped
- 1 Tablespoon heavy cream or milk
- 36 ounces white chocolate divided
- M&Ms*
- Sprinkles
Instructions
- Line a large baking sheet** with wax paper and spray liberally with nonstick cooking spray. Pour cereal into a large bowl.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter, salt, and 6 cups of the marshmallows together over low heat until marshmallows are almost melted–it should still be a little lumpy. Remove from the heat and immediately pour on top of the cereal. Stir until everything is coated, then add in the marshmallow creme along with the 2 remaining cups of marshmallows. Continue to stir until evenly mixed. Dump cereal mixture out onto prepared pan, and use a silicone spatula or wet hands to press the mixture into an even thin layer.
- In a small saucepan heat the caramels and cream over medium heat until smooth and melted. Drizzle caramel evenly over the cereal mixture. Refrigerate until caramel is set and dry to the touch.
- Melt half of the white chocolate (18 ounces) in the microwave until smooth and pourable. Drizzle white chocolate over the caramel cereal mixture, then use a knife or offset spatula to spread the chocolate evenly over everything. Refrigerate until chocolate has set.
- Heat the remaining white chocolate in the microwave until smooth. Turn the sheet of rice krispies over onto its chocolate side (which is now set), then drizzle the melted chocolate over the rice krispies, using an offset spatula to spread the chocolate evenly. Immediately top with M&Ms and sprinkles. Refrigerate until chocolate has set, then use a knife to cut bark into several pieces.
