There’s nothing that screams summer quite like hearing the never-ending tunes of the ice cream truck emanating in the distance. It’s probably every child’s favorite sound. I have to say though, I feel a little gypped by the fact that the ice cream man never came around my neighborhood when I was a child…until flippin’ NOW.
Oh well, better late than never, I guess…
Speaking of ice cream, it has to be my absolute favorite way to cool off during these heated hours of summer. Forget the pool, forget the beach, and forget those overcrowded waterparks. I’d rather devour something sweet and chilly. More specifically, a refreshingly cool and creamy beverage like this Chocolate Hazelnut Milkshake…

If you’ve only been drinking your COFFEE-MATE® in coffee, then you’re missing out, people. It’s the perfect double duty ingredient to add to milkshakes since it infuses both flavor AND creaminess. Ten times better than boring ‘ol milk. And if hazelnut isn’t your jam, no worries because there are PLENTY other flavors to choose from. If I’m feeling simple, I go for French Vanilla or Italian Sweet Cream. If I’m feeling feisty, I go for Toasted Marshmallow Mocha or Cookies and Cream. Since there’s really nothing that goes better with hazelnuts than chocolate (and LOTS of it), this milkshake starts off with a few generous scoops of chocolate ice cream. Five, to be precise. To the blender, add 1/4 cup of that addictively luscious chocolate hazelnut spread. Because chocolate. Finally, pour in 1/4 cup of the Hazelnut COFFEE-MATE® creamer.
Blend it all together until smooth and dreamy! Pour it into a large glass or two smaller glasses, if sharing’s your thing. When it comes to desserts, I share diddly squat.
As you can see, I decked my glass out with a generously-frosted rim of chocolate hazelnut spread and a beautifully bejeweled band of chopped hazelnuts. Oh, and because there wasn’t quite enough chocolate hazelnut spread in the shake already, I added a few strips of the spread along the glass interior.
The perfect topper for every single milkshake in the entire universe is a swirl (or in my case, a mountain) of whipped cream. As opposed to putting all your sweat and tears into making your own whipped cream (ew), Reddi-wip gives you that instant gratification with its seemingly endless stream of whipped cream–an extra dollop of fun!
Insert a few cookies and/or candy bars for extra indulgence along with a couple of straws (I’m not sharing, I just like to sip from two straws at once), and you’ve got yourself a bombshell of a shake!
This milkshake could literally not be any simpler to make. In fact, I was able to find all of my ingredients at Walmart. My only dilemma, of course, was deciding on which flavor of COFFEE-MATE® to get since there were so many to choose from and my mind was swirling with milkshake ideas.
With how rich, creamy, and decadent this Chocolate Hazelnut Milkshake turned out, I have no doubt I’ll be making another trip to my Walmart VERY soon to snatch up a few other flavors. Chocolate Hazelnut Milkshake
Ingredients
Milkshake:
- 5 scoops chocolate ice cream
- ¼ cup chocolate hazelnut spread
- ¼ cup COFFEE-MATE® Hazelnut Liquid Coffee Creamer
- Reddi-wip Original Whipped Topping
- For decorating: Chocolate hazelnut spread, chopped hazelnuts, chocolate syrup, cookie wafer sticks, candy bars, etc.
Instructions
- Prepare your glass/mason jar by frosting the rim with chocolate hazelnut spread (about an inch in width). Dip frosted rim into a small bowl of chopped hazelnuts. Spread strips of chocolate hazelnut spread along the inside of the glass. Place glass in freezer until ready to fill.
- To a blender, add the ice cream, chocolate hazelnut spread, and COFFEE-MATE®. Blend on high until smooth. Pour into prepared glass. Top with a mountain of Reddi-wip along with other toppings your mind can think up. Sip and enjoy!
