Clusters of almonds, buttery toffee bits, and crispy Golden Grahams cereal coated in rich milk chocolate!
No matter how old I get, I’m always going to be obsessed with candy. One of my fondest memories growing up was when my two best friends and I made almost weekly trips to The Sweet Factory in our local shopping mall. We LOVED loading up on all kinds of sweets and chocolate-covered treats. To this day, you’ll still find me frequenting ANY self-serve candy shop when I get the chance.
A few years ago, I discovered Dylan’s Candy Bar in Los Angeles. It’s a popular chain of boutique candy shops that carries one of the country’s best selections of candy, in my opinion. And most recently, I got to visit their original flagship location on New York City’s Upper East Side! Not only does it have THREE floors of candy deliciousness, but it even has a candy café! Can you say, Heaven? If you’d like to see just how amazing this store is, check out my New York City vlog!
Aside from feeling like I was in the actual Candyland board game, my favorite part about Dylan’s Candy Bar is their impressive assortment of chocolate candies. ALL kinds of chocolate-covered goodies, and some I had never seen before. One of which was Dylan’s appropriately named, “OMGs!” which were chocolatey clusters of almonds, toffee bits, and Golden Grahams cereal. I could NOT get enough of them, they were so addictive!
Unfortunately, I live about a thousand miles from the nearest Dylan’s Candy Bar, so I had to figure out a way to still get my hands on these magical clusters of chocolatey goodness. I knew that they couldn’t be that difficult to replicate, so I decided to make up my own. Literally 15 minutes later, I was on cloud nine popping a massive bowl of THESE into my mouth.
SUCCESS!!!
Really, you can’t find an easier candy to make than these. With just four ingredients and no shaping or molding involved, you can make pounds of these OMG clusters within minutes.
Just melt some chocolate chips in a bowl, stir in a few handfuls of Golden Grahams cereal along with some Heath toffee bits and chopped almonds. Scatter this delicious mixture onto a baking sheet, freeze until hardened, then break up into as many pieces as you desire. That’s it!
I used milk chocolate chips to mimic the original OMGs! at Dylan’s, but dark or white chocolate would work as well. You could even try butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips, or cinnamon chips! You might as well make a whole assortment using different chocolates/chips since these are so darn easy to make.
In fact, since they’re a great grab n’ go finger food, these would be perfect for any upcoming Super Bowl parties!
You wouldn’t think something as simple as these clusters would be so heavenly. The combination of the crunchy, slightly salty almonds, the crisp graham cereal squares, and the buttery toffee bits held together in rich milk chocolate is beyond divine.
And another great thing about making these OMGs at home is that it doesn’t come with the overly inflated candy-per-pound price tag. So I might not be saving your arteries, but at least I’m saving you money!
