A secretly simple-to-make truffle that’s so rich, chewy, and chocolatey that no one will ever guess it starts with a boxed brownie mix!
Everyone’s heard of the infamous cake truffles that are plastered all over the Internet, but have you ever heard of brownie truffles?
As an avid cake truffle fan, it was pretty much a no-brainer that there had to be a brownie version of the rich balls of amazingness (don’t get gross on me). I mean, come on. The brownie is like the richer, chewier and denser cousin of cake. How could it not be a good idea??
So allow me to introduce you to cake truffle’s cousin…brownie truffle!
As I mentioned earlier, brownies have a much denser texture, making them super fudgy, moist (I really dislike that word) and chewy. It’s like pure chocolate Heaven when you bite into one.
Seriously.
Oh, and before I get too ahead of myself, I have to mention the true pièce de résistance of these lusciously rich spheres (sounds less raunchy than balls) of deep, rich, chocolatey, chewy goodness.
Each truffle is stuffed with a little surprise…
Snickers!!!
Yes! SNICKERS!!! (If I could make the font bigger, I would.)
And the wonderful thing about this recipe is that you could easily substitute your favorite candy in the center! There’s pretty much a miniature version of every classic candy bar these days…Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, Twix…Reese’s Cups! And for those caramel lovers…Rolos wold be perfect! So many possibilities!
And if you thought cake truffles were easy to make, these brownie truffles are even easier! I swear! All ya need are a boxed brownie mix (plus the ingredients to bake it up), a bag of Snickers Bites (or your favorite candy, of course!), and some semi-sweet chocolate chips. Just check out the easy step-by-step photo directions I’ve provided for you below!
So first things first, bake a box of brownies according to package directions, and cool completely. You could also use a homemade recipe if you want to go that extra mile!
Next, cut a border around the outer edge of the pan to separate the crispy brownie edges from the softer brownie center. Use a fork to break up brownie, leaving crispy outer edge. Crispy edges don’t squish into truffles very well, but they do taste great under a scoop of ice cream!
Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Using a small cookie scooper or wet hands, scoop out about 1 1/2 tablespoons of brownie dough and wrap around one Snickers bite. Roll into a ball and place onto lined baking sheet.
Repeat with the rest of the brownie dough, then freeze brownie truffles for at least 15 minutes.
Remove brownie truffles from freezer and dip into melted chocolate, using two forks to tap off any excess chocolate and transfer back to the baking sheet.
Immediately sprinkle a few mini chocolate chips on top, if using.
Repeat process with the rest of the brownie truffles. Refrigerate truffles until chocolate has set. Truffles stay fresh for up to one week sealed in an airtight container at room temperature.

What a fantastic idea! These would be absolutely perfect for Easter gifts too – I might have to give them a try as I know quite a few chocaholics who would rave over these!
All the best,
